Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Hello!

I am Mrs Fox and I am the Year Five teacher at Fairmeadows. I am looking forward to teaching Year 5 and hope to have a fun filled year. I love working at Fairmeadows and think it's the best school there is. I lead English across school, this is something I really enjoy teaching and seeing all the children progress and achieve in.

When I am not in school I enjoy travelling in the UK and abroad (when I can), my favourite places so far are Holland, York and Paris. I enjoy spending time with my family and cat Merlin. I love going to concerts and listening to live music and have some more trips planned to see some favourite bands.

This year our class will be supported by Mrs BP who is excited to be working with you all again.

Ms Clark will be supporting children in the afternoons in Year 5 and 6.

Key Information

  • Please bring your child's labelled book bag into school every day.
  • Please bring a named water bottle. This must contain only water.
  • Year 5 are allowed to bring in healthy snacks (fruit/vegetables) as snack.
  • Please only wear stud earrings at school and on PE days - it helps if the children do not wear them.
  • Come to school in PE kit on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week.
  • Please communicate with the office using Parent mail or contact Mrs BP or myself through Seesaw.

Timetable

Homework

Reading - Children should read at least three times a week and bring their reading books daily. This is the most important way you can support your child with learning at home.

Timestables - Timestables Rockstars or Hit the Button should also be used daily to help children maintain their timetables knowledge for at least 10 minutes.

Mathletics - Is great to consolidate the learning that is taking place in school each week.

Learning Powers

Our learning powers run throughout school and underpin the core values we work to and hope to develop in the children.

The Learning Powers are:

  1. Enjoy Learning
  2. Have A Go
  3. Concentrate
  4. Keep trying
  5. Be Cooperative
  6. Use Your Imagination
  7. Be Curious
  8. Keep Improving

These Powers underpin our curriculum aims and develop growth-mind-set. They also provide our children with the right start preparing for life outside beyond Fairmeadows.
