Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Hello. I am Miss Bartlam and I am the Year Four teacher at Fairmeadows. I have been teaching here for over 10 years and I am really looking forward to the year ahead. I enjoy learning new things and being active. Outside of school, I have a little boy who keeps me very busy and I enjoy going on holidays and exploring new places.

This year our class will be supported  by Mrs BP who is also looking forward to an exciting year of fun and learning. Mrs Wright and Mr Boulter will be covering my time out of class.

Key Information

  • Please bring your child's labelled book bag into school every day.
  • Please bring a named water bottle. This must contain only water.
  • Please only wear stud earrings at school and on PE days it helps if the children do not wear them.
  • Come to school in PE kit on Thursday and Friday each week.
  • Please communicate with the office using Parent mail and contact myself or Mrs BP through Seesaw.

Homework

Reading - Children should read every day and bring there reading books to school daily. This is the most important way you can support your child with reading at home. Evidence of reading should be uploaded to Seesaw and added to the reading at home file, the staff can help you with this if you get stuck.

Spellings - Children will be given words to learn but these are not tested each week. They will however be assessed at the end of each term.

Time Tables - Times Tables Rockstars should also be used everyday for 10-15 minutes to help children learn and maintain their times tables knowledge.

Mathletics - Each child will be set Mathletics tasks which are linked to that weeks topic.

Knowledge Organisers- Each week a knowledge organiser will be shared for the following weeks Essentials sessions. Please read and talk about these with your children.

Learning Powers

Our learning powers run throughout school and underpin the core values we work to and hope to develop in the children.

The Learning Powers are:

  1. Enjoy Learning
  2. Have A Go
  3. Concentrate
  4. Keep trying
  5. Be Cooperative
  6. Use Your Imagination
  7. Be Curious
  8. Keep Improving

These Powers underpin our curriculum aims and develop growth-mind-set. They also provide our children with the right start preparing for life outside beyond Fairmeadows.

Forest Schools

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in our very own woodland and natural environment. Children will have a session each week for the whole year.
