Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Hello. I am Miss Bartlam and I am the Year Four teacher at Fairmeadows. I have been teaching here for over 10 years and I am really looking forward to the year ahead. I enjoy learning new things and being active. Outside of school, I have a little boy who keeps me very busy and I enjoy going on holidays and exploring new places.

This year our class will be supported by Mrs Wright and Mrs BP who are also looking forward to an exciting year of fun and learning.

Key Information

  • Please bring your child's labelled book bag into school every day.
  • Please bring a named water bottle. This must contain only water.
  • Please only wear stud earrings at school and on PE days it helps if the children do not wear them.
  • Come to school in PE kit on Wednesday and Thursday each week.
  • Please wear Forest Schools uniform on Tuesday every week.
  • Please communicate with the office using Parent mail and contact myself, Mrs Wright or Mrs BP through Seesaw.

Timetable

Homework

Reading - Children should read at least three times a week and bring their reading books daily. This is the most important way you can support your child with learning at home. Evidence of reading should be uploaded to Seesaw and added to the reading at home file, the staff can help you with this if you get stuck!

Spellings - Children will be given 10 words to learn and will be tested each Friday. These will be placed on Seesaw and should be practised on Spelling Shed at least three times a week for at least 10 minutes.

Time Tables - Time Tables Rockstars should also be used at least three times a week to help children maintain their time tables knowledge for 5-10 minutes.

Mathletics - Each week we will award a Mathletics champion in the class for the child with the most points that week.

Learning Warrior and Learning Powers

Our learning powers run throughout school and underpin the core values we work to and hope to develop in the children.

The Learning Powers are:

  1. Enjoy Learning
  2. Have A Go
  3. Concentrate
  4. Keep trying
  5. Be Cooperative
  6. Use Your Imagination
  7. Be Curious
  8. Keep Improving

These Powers underpin our curriculum aims and develop growth-mind-set. They also provide our children with the right start preparing for life outside beyond Fairmeadows.

We support these through our Learning Warrior Scheme which rewards pupils for exhibiting these qualities.

Forest Schools

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in our very own woodland and natural environment. Children will have a session each week for the whole year.
