In literacy this week:

Read and write Space poems.

Add and subtract 2 digit by 1 digit numbers.  

 

In theme this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Sorting and grouping everyday materials. Looking at materials used to build houses and test them for different properties.

 

 

Week beginning Monday 15th June

 

In literacy this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Write our own fantasy stories with aliens as the main character. Each story needs to have a beginning, middle and ending.

 

In maths this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Use money. We are subtracting amounts to work out the change given.

 

In theme this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Sorting and grouping everyday materials. To understand what materials objects are made from. To identify whether an object is man-made or natural.

 

 

Week beginning Monday 18th May

In literacy this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Become very familiar with key stories, fairy stories and traditional tales, retelling them and considering their particular characteristics. Apply phonic knowledge and skills as the route to decode words. Apply simple spelling rules and guidelines.

In maths this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Visualise and name common 3D shapes, describe their features and use them to make patterns and models.

In theme this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants, including trees.

Identify what qualities inspiring people have, including significant religious figures, local leaders and people who influence pupils themselves.

To think about why people break rules and why we have punishments.

Explore and share information from a variety of sources (including digital resources).

In literacy this

Solve one-step problems involving multiplication by calculating the answer using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays with the support of the teacher.

Develop their design ideas through discussion, observation and drawing.

Measure and cut accurately.

Assemble, join and combine in order to make a kite.

Explore shadows, observe the apparent movement of the sun during the day.

Recognise that there are special places where people go to worship and their importance to believers.

Investigate the range of people who live and work in the school locality .

Use a variety of tools to create and manipulate an image

Use these words in our writing.

Use non standard and standard units of measure to measure the length of different objects.

Recognise symmetrical shapes.

Create symmetrical patterns.

Make sketches of the environment around us.

talk about our favourite type of weather.

Use different collage materials to create representations of our environment.

 Notice how the sun moves in the sky during the daytime.

Write numbers to 100 and beyond.

To count in twos and fives.

To be able to say what each digit represents in numbers to 100 (tens and ones).

Recognise weather patterns in the United Kingdom.

Begin to recognise the link between weather types and different seasons.

Use different collage materials to create representations of our environment.

 

Week beginning Monday 15th December

The count down begins. This week we will be having our Christmas party on Wednesday 17th December. Party clothes a must!!!!!

Week beginning Monday 8th December

This week Christmas gets into full swing. We will be working on our Christmas play, singing cherry songs and learning lots of dances. The big show is on Tuesday 9th December with  performances at 10 am and 5 pm. We have our annual Christmas visit on Thursday 11th December to the Adventure Farm. Watch this space for photographs.

Use capital letters and full stops when we write.

In maths this week:

Read the time on the clock.

To read the time when it says o'clock and half past the hour.

In theme this week:

WE ARE LEARNING TO:

Recognise the Union Jack flag.

Say how each country that makes up the United Kingdom is represented in the Union Jack flag.

Understand that we need to brush our teeth twice each day to ensure that they are well looked after.

Week beginning Monday 20th October
This week it's all about our visit to Sudbury Museum of Childhood. We will find out lots about life in the past and what life was like for children. Please have a look at the photographs of our visit. We had such fun learning about the past!!!!

Select materials & techniques for making their box, measure & mark out, assemble and combine materials, use finishing techniques.
To be aware that people will try to persuade them to do things.
To talk about toys from the past.
To answer questions about the past.
To describe characteristics of toys.

Listening to and discussing a wide range of poems at a level beyond that which they can read independently.

Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (-) and equals (=) signs.
In theme this week:
WE ARE LEARNING TO:
Generate ideas, develop these by shaping materials, talk about their ideas, communicate their ideas using a variety of methods.
Find out how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching. 
To think about where their money comes from.
