  • Riding High

    Wed 01 Oct 2014
The Fairmeadows football team is riding high, second in the league as they got the second week of matches off to a winning 9-0 start. The other games were less thrilling as Fairmeadows lost 6-1 to Heathfileds before facing an incredible Melbourne team, who were lucky to escape with a flattering 3-1 win.

Top scorer and captain Owen Durdey continued his goal scoring form with three goals on the night taking his season tally to 13, whilst Theo Baker scored an opening game hat-trick to take his tally to six one ahead of his brother Noah who sits proudly on a tally of five after a hat-trick in the same match! James Manly retains his eye for goal with his fourth of the season whilst Man of the Match, and stalwart defender/playmaker Robbie Harrison dominated at the back and scored an excellent goal, beating three players on his way to helping us win 9-0.

Liam has done wonders in goal and has a record of three clean sheets from six matches.

Just one point behind leaders Pennine Way and with plenty more games to come, the future looks bright for these young players.

Well done to the team so far.

  • Website development

    Thu 25 Sep 2014

Both our school website and the old KLP Learning Platform are currently being redeveloped. Whilst this is in progress, we will keep the website updated with as much basic information as possible, but hopefully the new improved website will be ready to launch quite soon!
The Learning Platform will be a complete replacement, and so that will look very different - we will let you know as soon as it is ready but it does mean that there is no access to that type of facility in the meantime. Children (and parents!) can still access things such as Mathletics, Purple Mash and Espresso through the Internet or the existing website links. I

If you have any queries, please speak to Mr Boulter.

  • Pancake Day Mayhem!

    Fri 07 Mar 2014
Team Darwin are the proud winners of the Swadlincote Pancake Day Race 2014. On Tuesday morning Year 6 travelled to the town hall in Swadlincote where they competed against each other in a flipping brilliant morning of racing around and over obstacles, all the while battling to keep the pancake in the pan!

It was great fun and saw Team Darwin claim the trophy and an additional 5 pts for their team.

Well done to Jayden Clamp, Nathan Wright, Connor Clements, Josh Knighton, Talia Castledine, Dylan Lamb and Thomas Smithard.

  • Basketball Brilliance

    Fri 07 Mar 2014
Fairmeadows finished a noble fourth in the Basketball county finals, narrowly losing out to eventual winners int he semi-final. The matches were all hard fought and the quality incredibly high as Fairmeadows stormed through the group stages to qualify for the first time in six years for the semi-finals. A gallant and bold effort from the weary team was not enough in the 3rd/4th play off to claim 3rd but it remained a superb performance with the team achieving the following results:

    Won 6-4
    Drew 0-0
    Won 10-0
    Drew 6-6
    Lost 4-6
    Lost 4-6

Well done to all the players: Dylan Lamb, Jayden Clamp, Theo Baker, Sophie Dighton, Nathan Wright, Josh Knighton, Corey Eley, Olivia Gould, Callum Bramwell and Tom Smithard.

  • World Book Day 2014

    Thu 06 Mar 2014
Thank you to all the parents and staff who have helped to make World Book Day such a fantastic and fun experience. It was wonderful to see all the children coming into school, excited and smiling, but best of all dressed to impress!

A super turn out in fairy tale dress that has turned our school into a veritable Wonderland! (Moreso even than usual!)

Choosing the winner will be difficult but we will gove it our best shot. Well done to all the children, who look magnificent.

  • Schools Minister sends letter of congratulations!

    Tue 07 Jan 2014

    Dear all,

I am delighted to tell you that we have received a letter from the Minister of State for Schools, congratulating us on our school's performance. The progress that our children make between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, means that out of nearly 17,000 schools in England we are amongst the top 250 performing schools.

This is an outstanding achievement and something that recognises the hard work of every member of the Fairmeadows team; the children, staff, governors and parents. This acknowledgement of the great start in life that we provide for children attending Fairmeadows, and the recognition that our school is 'exceptionally effective in educating its pupils' is hugely rewarding.

What a fantastic start to the New Year! Thank you to everyone.
