Spring Album & Information

w/c 8th April- Easter

 

  • We are reading the Easter story and sequencing the pictures to show our understanding.
  • We are writing about the Easter story.
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our bat and ball control skills.
  • We will be subtracting amounts using concrete resources in Maths.
  • We will be talking about our the Easter traditions and celebrations.
  • We will have our non-uniform day, Easter raffle and Easter bonnet competition on Friday.
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.
  • We are also doing arts & crafts for our classroom displays.

w/c 1st April- Vets & Animals

 

  • We are reading a riddle in our Reading Comprehension lesson using our 'treasure chest of memories' to find out what the object is. 
  • We are writing about vets and their job.
  • We are reading Mog and the V.E.T
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our ball control skills.
  • We will be subtracting amounts in Maths.
  • We will be visited by a vet nurse and her dog on Friday.
  • We will be talking about our families and past events in People & Communities. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.
  • We are also doing arts & crafts for our classroom displays.

w/c 25th March - Paramedics & Hospitals

 

  • We are reading CVC sentences in our Guided Reading Comprehension lesson.
  • We are learning about how the staff at hospitals can help us.
  • We are writing about what we have learnt from the people who help us and their job roles.
  • We have Mother's Day events on Friday.
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our ball control skills in golf. 
  • We will be doubling in Maths
  • We will be talking about our families and past events in People & Communities. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.
  • We are also doing arts & crafts for our classroom displays.

w/c 18th March - Shakespeare Week / Doctors & Nurses

 

  • We are reading 'Twelfth Night' a Shakespeare love story. We will be recapping the story and completing comprehension tasks on this. 
  • We are writing parts of the story - The Twelfth Night and role-playing this as the characters. 
  • We are reading the 'Zog & the flying doctors' 
  • We will be recapping the Nurse's visit from last week.
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our ball control skills in golf. 
  • We will be doubling in Maths
  • We will be comparing 'living and non-living' things in Understanding of the World. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 11th March - Cops & Robbers

 

  • We are recapping what we learnt about the PSCO visit last week.
  • We will be doing different police based child initiated learning activities. 
  • We are reading 'Odd Socks' a comprehension based text and using our toolkit strategies to help us decode this.
  • We are reading the rhyming story 'Cops and Robbers' and writing rhyming strings. 
  • We have a visit from an A+E nurse.
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our ball control skills in golf. 
  • We will be adding amounts to 20 in Maths.
  • We will be using 2-step instructions for the Beebots and mats. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.
  • Friday is Comic Relief - Historical Figure dress-up day. Please bring a £1 donation.

w/c 4th March - Fire & Rescue

 

  • We are reading 'The animal fire fighters' story.
  • We are writing about our Fire Fighters visit. 
  • We have a visit from the local PSCO
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our ball control skills. 
  • We will be adding amounts in Maths.
  • We will be using the Beebots and mats. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 25th February - People who help us:

 

  • World Book Week:
  • We are reading a mystery book and design our own book cover for it.
  • We have a visit from the local Fire Service.
  • Monday is our Parents Reading Breakfast.
  • We will be writing our own 50 word story as a class.
  • We will be experiencing a 'book tasting' event where we sample a variety of book themes.
  • We will experience a 'Big Read' day on Thursday. 
  • On Friday, it is our World Book Day dress up day as magical / mythical characters. 
  • We are doing PE we will be developing our Fundamental Movement skills. 
  • We will be adding amounts in Maths.
  • We will be using the Beebots and mats 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 11th February - Towers & Turrets

 

  • We are reading the sentences using our Phonics knowledge and Reading toolkit. 
  • We will be learning about non-fiction books and getting information about castles from them.
  • We will be writing facts about castles. 
  • We will learn about St. Valentine and Valentines day.
  • We are doing PE we will be playing Rugby based games. 
  • We will be using positional language in Maths. 
  • It is Rugby day on Friday - so we will have Rugby themed activities. 
  • We will be producing crafts for our display.
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 4th February - Chinese Dragons

 

  • It is Safer Internet Week in school. We will be learning about e-safety. 
  • We are reading the Great Race story about the Chinese Zodiac animals.
  • We will be writing about the story the Great Race
  • We are doing PE developing our ball and negotiating space skills. 
  • We will be drawing hands on clocks to learn about time. 
  • We will be designing our own Chinese Fans on Purple Mash
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

  • We are developing 'inference' skills by giving reasons and explaining our thoughts using simple pictures. 
  • We will be writing the story Room on the Broom.
  • We are doing PE outside developing our ball and negotiating space skills. 
  • We will be using money related vocabulary and recognising coins. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

  • We are reading Room on the Broom and identifying rhyming strings. 
  • We will be segmenting words to explain who would go on your broomstick
  • We will be investigating ice and observing how it changes. 
  • We are doing PE outside developing our ball skills. 
  • We will be continuing to find 1 less for to twenty. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 14th January - Mysterious Egg

 

  • We are reading CVC sentences.
  • We will be writing about what we think is inside the mysterious egg.
  • We are doing Kimbles - Dance in PE to develop the skill: negotiating space.
  • We will be finding 1 more and 1 less for numbers to twenty. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.

w/c 7th January - Happy New Year

 

  • We are reading Oi Cat and learning about rhyming strings. 
  • We will be recalling what we had for Christmas and writing about it.
  • We will be painting a dragon picture on Purple Mash (computers).
  • We are doing PE outside developing our ball skills. 
  • We will be counting accurately to 20. 
  • We will be practising our handwriting patterns and letters to strengthen our fine motor skills.
