Welcome to EYFS (Nursery and Reception)

Hi, I am Mrs Balcon and I am excited to teach the EYFS Class this year. I have taught in Nursery and Reception for many years. I love the Early Years, so much so that I am the EYFS lead. I am so passionate about child-led learning and encouraging their interests. I am also the school SENCO. I look forward to following and supporting all the progress the children make his year.

Our team is made up of:

Key Information

Seesaw

  • All pupils have their own Seesaw accounts, which is a learning journey record of photographs, videos and work your child has completed. You will be notified when a new post is shared.
  • You also have the option to contact the Reception staff if you have any queries during the day (8am-4pm) via the messaging function.

Uniform & Equipment

  • Please bring a named red logo school bag each day
  • Please bring a named water bottle to school each day. This must only contain water.
  • School provide a milk carton (up to the age of 5) and fruit or vegetables for our daily snack time.

  • Our Forest schools sessions has finished for this academic year now so no Forest kit needed.

Homework

Reading

  • We encourage children to read at home as much as possible. We ask that parents try to read daily with their child and share a post about this on Seesaw.

Mathletics

  • Children have a Mathletics login and are encouraged to earn 500 points each week.

Phonics

  • Children are assigned a Seesaw activity with flash cards based on the current phonemes and high frequency words that they’re learning.

Proud Clouds.

  • We also ask parents to send in one piece of good news about their child's achievements each week. These are called 'proud clouds', we share these with the rest of the class on a Friday and celebrate these together.
