This week in Year 5
Our Theme this term is:
Maya the force be with you
We hope you had a great break and look forward to the predicted marvellous weather that's on its way! During this half term, we will be using learning about the Maya, one of the first civilisations to develop writing. The Mayans developed a sophisticated culture of community with fine monumental buildings and characteristic stepped pyramids and were advanced in their use of mathematics.
English: This week, we will be researching the story of the Hero Twins from Mayan culture and begin to develop our own myth narrative.
Maths: We will continue our geometry learning including plotting points on a grid, reflecting and translating shapes.
Science: We will be investigating how light travels and how we are able to see because of travelling light.
