Creating beautiful sunflowers

Weekly focus

The children will be celebrating Shakespeare week in school.

We will be learning part of the poem 'A Fairy Song.'

The children will also create a picture relating to the poem.

Our song of the week is He'll be climbing up the beanstalk.

We will be sharing 'Jack and the beanstalk'

The children will be making marks about the story of the week and creating some pictures for our Jack and the beanstalk display.

Our colour of the week is blue.

Our shape of the week is a rectangle.

Our sound of the week is n.

Our song of the week is I'm a little bean.

We will be sharing 'My Bean Diary'

The children will be practicing writing their names.

We will be thinking about growing and what things need to grow.

The children will plant their very own bean plant and play a game about how the bean plant grows.

The children will also order pictures of the stages of growth.

This week is book week in school.

The children will be sharing lots of different books and will be introduced to a mystery book.

The children will create pictures relating to the mystery book and writing about the story.

The children will also be recognising and naming 2D shapes.

 

Monday: Reading breakfast

Friday: Dress as a magical or mythical book character

The children discovered that the mystery book was 'The Paper dolls.' The children all enjoyed the story. They drew pictures about the story and made their own paper dolls.

All the children looked great!

Our theme for this half term is 'A Tiny Seed'

 

We will be sharing books relating to our theme which include 'Lets plant a seed' and 'Jack and the beanstalk'

The children will be taking part in our book week and given the opportunity to dress up as a book character.

We will be talking about what things need to grow and the children will be growing their very own bean plant.

The children will be introduced to 3D shapes.

 

The children will learn about Easter and take part in Easter themed activities.

We will be sharing 'The Little Red Hen.'

The children will be practicing writing their names and painting a picture relating to our story of the week.

We will also be looking at 2D shapes and sorting them into groups.

Hopefully the little red hen will share some of her bread with us!

Our focus this week will be Chinese New Year.

 

We will be sharing stories and learning about how Chinese New Year is celebrated.

 

The children will be making some Chinese lanterns and drums.

 

We will be concentrating on maths this week: ordering numbers, continuing patterns and looking at 2D shapes.

The children will be learning about taking turns and using their number knowledge when playing 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch game.'

We will be sharing 'Oliver's vegetables.'

The children will be learning about taking turns when playing 'Grandpa's vegetable patch game.'

The children will be practicing writing their names and printing with different vegetables.

We will also see if vegetables can have any re-growth.

Our song of the week is When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears.

We will be sharing 'Goldilocks and the three bears.'

The children will be experimenting with different paint techniques and collage to create a fantastic display about Goldilocks and the three bears. 

The children will be ordering numbers and drawing pictures about our story.

We will also see if Goldilocks has left any porridge for the children to try, yum!

We will be sharing 'The tiger who came to tea.'

The children will be creating tigers using paper plates and making marks about the story.

 

Welcome to our new starters!

Our theme for this half term is 'What's for tea?'

 

We will be sharing books relating to our theme which include 'The Tiger who came to tea' and 'Oliver's vegetables.'

The children will be given the opportunity to make and taste their own bread.

We will be experimenting with colours and using vegetables to print patterns.

The children will take part in activities to embed their number knowledge from 1 to 10.

 

The children will celebrate Chinese New Year and learn how the festival is honoured.
